KORUNFCCC(United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) is a prominent multilateral agreement aimed at regulating the artificial emissions of greenhouse gases to combat global warming.
The ultimate goal of UNFCCC is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere to prevent dangerous interference with the climate system, allowing ecosystems to naturally adapt and enabling sustainable development.
Adopted during the International Environmental Conference held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992, UNFCCC came into force in March 1994, and currently, 198 countries are parties to it.
※ As of April 2024
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is a project conducted under the auspices of the UNFCCC, aimed at addressing climate change issues and playing a crucial role internationally in tackling them.
The Designated Operational Entity (DOE) of the CDM, selected through the approval process of the CDM Executive Board and the Conference of the Parties, performs the following functions:
KFQ, as the first private domestic ins_titution designated as a Clean Development Mechanism Designated Operational Entity (DOE) by UNFCCC in 2006, evaluates the feasibility and verifies greenhouse gas emission reductions of CDM projects on behalf of the UN.
